AC Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez could be on his way to Liverpool this January.
Simon Mignolet comes in for a lot of criticism as Liverpool goalkeeper and whilst he is a good shot-stopper, the other area’s of his game are severely lacking. There were rumours a few weeks ago that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was in the market for a new manager and after giving away a free-kick against Bordeaux in the Europa League for holding onto the ball for 20 seconds it looks like Mignolet has helped make up Klopp’s mind.
The former Real Madrid man is a good experienced goalkeeper who will offer competition to Mignolet and can fill in as and when needed.
I’ve been convinced by Mignolet at Liverpool and always felt they needed a better, more reliable goalkeeper, who doesn’t make so man errors, if they wanted to challenge for top four and the title regularly. Lopez is a good back-up who will challenge Mignolet but he’s not a long term replacement.
